Sewing has been in my family for generations. For the longest time, though, I thought the ‘sewing gene’ skipped me. My amazing aunt tried to teach me but I was always hesitant, and mostly watched instead. I always loved it but I didn’t know where to start. When I attempted to make clothing items for myself, I’d sew sleeves inside out. It was a disaster. Sewing took a backseat for a while until I was preparing for my newly adopted Spanish Greyhound to come to our home. I consider myself very stylistically picky, and could not find a bed perfect enough to complement her elegant beauty. I decided to source some beautiful fabrics and put together a sweet dog bed for her. That is the beginning of my story.

At that time, we were living in Germany because of my husband’s military service and surprisingly there were almost no fabric stores. I was planning a road trip to the Netherlands and discovered a weekly fabric market in a city called Utrecht. That fabric market changed my life. I came home with tons of beautiful and fun fabrics, but without plans for them. I browsed around and started making small plush toys and dog bandannas. Simple things. Friends and family loved them and began requesting other items. Thus Milk & Bones was born! I kept learning how to make new things, discovered a traveling version of the fabric market, and kept on making.

My products have evolved since those early days. Before my daughter was born I learned how to make baby items like bibs, hats, and burp cloths. I have since added many baby and toddler clothing items to my sewn product line. Customers love the bright, colorful and playful fabric choices that I use to create adorable bloomers, rompers, dresses, shirts and more. My best sellers are my super durable and absorbent baby bibs and my bloomer outfits.

I love taking opportunities to exhibit in craft fairs so people can shop, see, and feel my products in person. Creating new items and finding fun prints I know other moms and their little ones will love is what keeps me going. Creating will always be a part of me. I’m also excited for the possibility of expanding my business adventures through Marketspace Vendor Events while I’m in the exploratory phase of a brand new clothing line concept.

Milk & Bones will be at this upcoming event!
