HANDMADE Macrame and Knit Products - Adonica Cabreja

Hi! I’m Adonica Cabreja with North Jersey-based HANDMADE Macrame and Knit Products, or as we say HANDMADE. I’ve always loved crafts, but it was really my husband who started me on this amazing journey. When I learned that he liked knit ties my first instinct was to surprise him with one that I had made. Friends of his liked it and asked for their own. Once word got around that I knit, things blossomed. Even our macrame started that way. He wanted a big wall piece, so I did some research. It seemed easy enough -so I made him one! A coworker of his saw it and wanted one too. Soon I was doing something that I had never thought of doing!

Macrame is something that’s pretty much always in stock, but custom pieces can be made too. Everything is locally sourced, including the driftwood I use, which comes from the bay behind my house. I clean it up and repurpose it, matching the macrame or knit piece to the wood. Knit Products are hard to keep stocked due to demand, but it allows me to create custom products. I’ll even try doing things that aren’t knit or macrame. As long as my customers are willing to be patient when it comes to creating something that’s new for me to do, I’m willing to give any creation a shot. A big HANDMADE seller are the hand-knit blankets. They’re big and bulky -but BOY are they warm and perfect for our winter weather! As for my favorite thing to make, it has to be the feather macrame pieces. It might be a little more time consuming and tedious, but they come out so beautiful when they’re finished. I can be hard on myself when it comes to my work, but these are pieces that I can just enjoy.

While there’s still room for growth, I’d like to keep HANDMADE a small business. I want to make sure that I keep the passion I have for my craft and the happiness that it brings me. I don’t want to get caught up in the growth of the business so that I lose my passion and the quality suffers. This venture helps me be a stay-at-home-mom, which I love. Given my workload as a mom, artisan, and small business owner, I find it hard at times to know when events are taking place. Marketspace Vendor Events helps me to easily find events that I can be a part of and with plenty of notice. Their events calendar and advanced emails for those of us in their network help me better prepare, stock, and plan my schedule. I look forward to participating in new events this year and meeting wonderful new people!

Kaitlyn Lazzaro - Kaitlyn’s Knit Knacks

Hey All, I’m Kaitlyn, of Kaitlyn’s Knit Knacks! I started this handmade adventure back in high school when I took a fashion class. Yes, that was a real class in my high school. I remember the teacher taught us the basics, knit and purl, and then she rolled out the television (every high schoolers' favorite moment in school) and put on Project Runway. We literally watched TV and made a scarf for about a week. It was awesome! Then fast forward to post-college, imagine a broke new graduate needing to buy her friends and family Christmas Gifts on an entry level salary. I got the brilliant idea to pick up knitting again, and then I just couldn’t stop... so here I am now 5 years later with an Etsy Shop and getting into Craft and Vendor shows.

I make handmade knit items, particularly chunky knit hats, and cowls to keep you warm all winter. I also offer baby items, such as newborn caps, bows, booties, and household items like washcloths. There is definitely a huge variety that you can find on my shop, but my personal favorites not only to make, but also to wear, are my seed stitch beanies. The beauty of my Etsy shop is that most items are made to order, so any item can be customized in size, and color. If you love a headband and want a matching one with your child just send me a message and we can work together to get the perfect color and size for both you and your little one.

This is my first year participating in Craft and Vendor shows, so it has definitely been an adventure! My hope for the future is to continue growing my business on Etsy, through Craft shows, and even local brick and mortar shops. I am currently partnering with All Things Local in Red Bank, NJ and hope to expand from there. Although I have been to a few Crafts and Drafts events, I am excited to be participating in my first event with Marketspace Vendor Events and hope to continue working with them in future!

Anna Lapan - Crochet Toys Corner

My shop is a result of my love for crochet, soft yarns, kids, colors and the longing for the toys of olden days, as opposed to battery or USB operated toys.

I wanted to make simple, not super fancy, and sophisticated softcreatures that are a nice gift.  The kind that the child will always remember as part of his sweet childhood memories.  My cute and cozy knitted and designed characters, stuffed toys, and dolls decorate any home.

I have been making dolls and toys for the last 3 years.  Many of my creatures have taken very lovely parts in the lives of their buyers: blue donkey became a ring holder on her wedding, popular tiger was sent to an expectant mother by her husband from his military service, cute sheep went to sweeten one child's bedtime.  All of them are unique, made with love and care in every stitch.

My goals for the future include reaching more potential customers and to increase the number of orders of my work. Since the Marketspace Crafts and Drafts at River Horse Brewing Company on October 29th will be my first encounter with this type of event,  I hope it will give me the opportunity to actualize my goals.
