My name is Jenn. I’m a stationery and paper obsessed artist and illustrator. I always had a vision of becoming a fine artist who exhibited in galleries, but quickly realized that my real passion was in designing fun, sometimes silly, illustrations. These original illustrations would often be of myself, food, things I thought were funny, and things I loved. What originally started as a fun way to express myself outside of my day job, these illustrations became the beginning pieces for my original card designs. In the winter of 2017 I launched the Pedal Pusher Press website and this little stationery biz has been growing ever since.

All of the Pedal Pusher Press collection is designed by myself from my original illustrations, including pen drawings and watercolors. The Pedal Pusher Press collection currently offers various greeting cards, art prints, mugs, stickers, and custom prints and greeting cards. One of the most popular items I make are the New Jersey cards and prints. I’ve grown up in Jersey and always loved how different certain towns and shore points were. I always felt like many of these places felt like “home” to me. This resonates with a lot of our customers because many of them know that same feeling of loving their “home” place, whether it’s down the shore or in their favorite downtown area. Making these unique maps for each of my customers is really special and I enjoy hearing their stories and why they love the places they do.

In 2019, I’m very excited to begin partnering with some small businesses, selling in shops and boutiques. I’ll be launching more fun card designs throughout the year, as well. I’m also really looking forward to upcoming Marketspace Vendor Events, like Shop the Shore at Porta in Asbury Park.

Pedal Pusher Press will be at these upcoming events!

HANDMADE Macrame and Knit Products - Adonica Cabreja

Artisan:  Adonica Cabreja
E-mail: handmadeinjc@gmail.com

Hi! I’m Adonica Cabreja with North Jersey-based HANDMADE Macrame and Knit Products, or as we say HANDMADE. I’ve always loved crafts, but it was really my husband who started me on this amazing journey. When I learned that he liked knit ties my first instinct was to surprise him with one that I had made. Friends of his liked it and asked for their own. Once word got around that I knit, things blossomed. Even our macrame started that way. He wanted a big wall piece, so I did some research. It seemed easy enough -so I made him one! A coworker of his saw it and wanted one too. Soon I was doing something that I had never thought of doing!

Macrame is something that’s pretty much always in stock, but custom pieces can be made too. Everything is locally sourced, including the driftwood I use, which comes from the bay behind my house. I clean it up and repurpose it, matching the macrame or knit piece to the wood. Knit Products are hard to keep stocked due to demand, but it allows me to create custom products. I’ll even try doing things that aren’t knit or macrame. As long as my customers are willing to be patient when it comes to creating something that’s new for me to do, I’m willing to give any creation a shot. A big HANDMADE seller are the hand-knit blankets. They’re big and bulky -but BOY are they warm and perfect for our winter weather! As for my favorite thing to make, it has to be the feather macrame pieces. It might be a little more time consuming and tedious, but they come out so beautiful when they’re finished. I can be hard on myself when it comes to my work, but these are pieces that I can just enjoy.

While there’s still room for growth, I’d like to keep HANDMADE a small business. I want to make sure that I keep the passion I have for my craft and the happiness that it brings me. I don’t want to get caught up in the growth of the business so that I lose my passion and the quality suffers. This venture helps me be a stay-at-home-mom, which I love. Given my workload as a mom, artisan, and small business owner, I find it hard at times to know when events are taking place. Marketspace Vendor Events helps me to easily find events that I can be a part of and with plenty of notice. Their events calendar and advanced emails for those of us in their network help me better prepare, stock, and plan my schedule. I look forward to participating in new events this year and meeting wonderful new people!

My journey as a women’s luxury clothing designer began in 2000 after graduating from The Academy of Design in Montreal. I created a line for myself that was versatile, fun to wear, and allowed me to jump on my bike to go to a yoga class then meet a friend for dinner. As I wore my own creations, women of all ages and sizes would approach me to ask where I had purchased my outfits.

This inspired me to launch Donna Beth, a line of elegant, stylish and original clothes for all women to wear. I pride myself on creating timeless and well-made clothes, always maintaining a balance between luxury and comfort. I work with a wide range of textiles, carefully selected, hand-cut and sewn in my New Jersey design studio, that will take you from morning to night without having to change.

I find meaning in putting my best into my designs - not just quality products, but quality experiences and relationships with my amazing, dynamic clients. I LOVE what I do with all my heart! That is why I created my brand and on-line store – to offer original, exciting pieces to suit the diverse lifestyles of women everywhere!

I look forward to returning to The Marketspace at Westfield this weekend. The funky, beautiful space in Downtown Westfield is a perfect match for the vibe of my designs. Stop by to try on a few of my pieces or contact me for a custom fitting.

Emily Gunselman - Birch House Candles

Hello! I am Emily Gunselman, owner and creator of Birch House Candles. I am a wife and mother of 2 and I craved having something to call my own. Out of a love for beautiful things and an obsession with candles, I began to develop a handmade soy candle luxury that anyone and everyone would be excited to gift and keep for themselves. The journey has also inspired me to educate on the benefits of burning soy and the self-care aspect of relaxation that comes with burning a candle.

Birch House Candles is a small-batch hand-poured soy candle company. Each candle is made entirely by hand. We use renewable U.S. grown soy wax, which burns cleaner, eco-friendly and non-toxic cotton wicks and premium phthalate-free fragrance oils. We sell a 11.5 oz glass candle and a 8oz tin in a variety of seasonal fragrances. A few of our best sellers are the sweet grapefruit, which is an uplifting blend of tangerine and grapefruit, and in the fall our apple maple bourbon is a huge hit, mixing the classic apple scent with an unexpected maple and bourbon twist. So many exciting fragrances to make your house feel like a home! Each purchase is packaged in a silver bag with bow and label, perfect for easy gifting!

I am super excited to learn about Marketspace Vendor Events and partner with them to boost my customer base as well as other crafters in the community. My goal for my brand is to broaden my customer reach and become a known soy candle company. It is refreshing to see a company like Marketspace for the sole purpose of making better events for customers and vendors alike. I look forward to see how this community will evolve. Thanks for including me!

Kimora Beaupierre-Liberati - Sucre Body Products

Sucre came about one very broke Christmas season while I was in grad school. I committed to making my gifts, as they would be more thoughtful to both my loved ones and my pockets.

Throughout the years, Sucre underwent several logo changes and formula changes until arriving at where we are today. The most substantial change was the conscious effort to carefully select only simple natural ingredients for each body scrub. In my daily life, I try to live relatively healthily, and have a love for multipurpose household and pantry items.  I’ve been known to eat half of an avocado, and then use the other half for a hair masque!  Therefore, it is no surprise that Sucre Body scrubs use nature’s exfoliators, moisturizers, and scents to smooth and condition the skin while invigorating the senses.  Sugar acts our main exfoliant, while fractionated coconut oil delivers serious moisture! Our aromatics are provided by the 100% natural essential oils used in each scrub—no ambiguous “fragrances” here!

Sugar, coconut oil, cocoa butter, coffee, rosemary, lavender, citrus, ginger…
What’s in YOUR body scrub?
