My journey as a women’s luxury clothing designer began in 2000 after graduating from The Academy of Design in Montreal. I created a line for myself that was versatile, fun to wear, and allowed me to jump on my bike to go to a yoga class then meet a friend for dinner. As I wore my own creations, women of all ages and sizes would approach me to ask where I had purchased my outfits.

This inspired me to launch Donna Beth, a line of elegant, stylish and original clothes for all women to wear. I pride myself on creating timeless and well-made clothes, always maintaining a balance between luxury and comfort. I work with a wide range of textiles, carefully selected, hand-cut and sewn in my New Jersey design studio, that will take you from morning to night without having to change.

I find meaning in putting my best into my designs - not just quality products, but quality experiences and relationships with my amazing, dynamic clients. I LOVE what I do with all my heart! That is why I created my brand and on-line store – to offer original, exciting pieces to suit the diverse lifestyles of women everywhere!

I look forward to returning to The Marketspace at Westfield this weekend. The funky, beautiful space in Downtown Westfield is a perfect match for the vibe of my designs. Stop by to try on a few of my pieces or contact me for a custom fitting.

My name is Brian and I am the owner of BrianMetalCraft. My backyard started my passion to craft. While sitting and enjoying the scenery around me, my idle hands decided to try to recreate some of the little scenes I found there. But I didn’t know how best to continue until I discovered copper wire trees. What contentment I found twisting away, forming little trees! Then after a while, I started building various other metal craft skills and interjected them into my work and real scenes were finally born. I just started my art in 2017 and I now have over 120 scenes made with a majority of them for sale.

My trees are combined with objects you may find on the lawn or in your very own yard. Boats, outhouses, bikes, flower beds, and many more are all born from copper and mounted on wonderful remnants of granite saved from re-purposed counter tops. Many cute scenes exist including a couple favorites; A BBQ scene with corn stalks and a bee hive, a tool shed with various garden tools stacked for choosing, a canoe and boat scenes... and my best seller is the campsite scene.

Motivation isn’t an issue for me. I always find myself having to “try” to stop creating. So much so that I can't find space to put them all!  Marketspace Vendor Events will be a big help in that area as I have signed up for a number of their events and plan to sign up for more. My in-person event journey will start with The Marketspace at Summit on May 19th and 20th. If the photos of my scenes entice you, seeing them in person will surely grab your attention. These 3-D scenes are quite impressive when you are able to look from all angles. I hope you will come by and enjoy them with me. You can also find my work on Etsy.

Mom (Mary) and I have lived in Cranford, NJ for over 50 years.  We are collectors of many things and have purchased many great pieces at local antique markets that no longer exist. And with that, way too many Longaberger baskets (it was a 90’s spending craze). While I worked in New York City enjoying a global life around shoes, fashion and hosiery, Mom enjoyed life at home. She is creative by nature, an important trait I believe was passed on to me - it’s innate.

Our homes are filled with Mom's creations, new and old, including needlework, holiday decor, quilts, curtains, pillows, ceramics from the 70's and, as it relates to our new chapter, a wonderful laundry bag. As neither of us are getting any younger, I’ve given up the daily trek to NYC and decided it time to spend time with my mom and learn her unique skill. It was finally time and we’re having a blast together.

We are very excited about our handmade drawstring bags. Born as a laundry bag but, can also be utilized in many other ways. For example, storage for toys, seasonal clothes, comforters, and flip flops. It is great for guests at beach houses, filled with their towels, soap, treats, etc. And when it is time for the guests to depart, they can strip their beds and their sheets are ready for laundry. You can even use it as a beach bag!

About 10 years ago, I gifted one to a friend who lives in NYC and she uses it every week for her laundry drops and dry cleaning drops. We can make our bags in many sizes, however I am partial to the large ones. And I admit, I stuff it like a sausage - and it holds! Many of our bags are made with vintage fabrics, pulled directly from Mom’s vault. It truly is a one of a kind, unique gift.

It is also a tried and true method to teach kids to (finally!) put away their worn clothes and is so much more decorative than a plastic basket. I hang mine on my closet door. To add to our product line, we’re also creating lovely aprons.

We are currently in countdown mode to our first ever show! We are launching our brand with Marketspace Vendor Events at their May 19th event, The Marketspace at Summit. We’ve also committed to their November 24th holiday show, Winter Village at The Red Mill Museum, so it will be a busy summer sewing. I’m excited to partner with Marketspace; their concept takes me back to my outings with Mom. I believe in the shop small/local concept AND they also live in my hometown. Lastly, we plan to share a portion of every sale to support victims of domestic violence in Union County, NJ.

I believe that everyone has a creative side, and that we need to invest time in that side of ourselves in order to become a well-rounded individual. Creativity definitely doesn’t come easily to everyone and I frequently struggle to be creative myself! Soulmates + Scripts is my creative outlet. Soulmates + Scripts was born after my wedding in June 2017. I had spent an inordinate amount of time wedding planning, including making my own handwritten signs, and once the wedding was over, I felt a void in my life. I needed something to fill the time after my full-time job in Corporate Finance and something to bring out the creative side of me.

One of the things I enjoyed most about planning my wedding was picking and making the décor. Full disclosure – I did not DIY everything! I found that handwritten signs really added a personal touch to our wedding décor and I felt a great sense of pride seeing them at our ceremony and reception. Soulmates + Scripts offers a wide variety of handwritten wedding and home décor.

I love custom orders. It is amazing, yet sometimes incredibly difficult, to create a design and bring it to life on wood, canvas, chalkboard, etc. One of my favorite pieces I’ve created so far was a custom baby shower chalkboard sign. My client wanted to incorporate an owl into the design, and I was definitely unsure if I would be able to deliver their vision. The owl turned out better than I could have imagined, and it helped to instill a sense of confidence in me. I feel incredibly lucky to be able to help personalize someone’s special day or be a little part of their home.

Soulmates + Scripts is still a very new business and I am learning every day. My handwriting and designs have come a long way in just 8 months and it is exciting to see my creativity and confidence shining through more and more. I cannot wait to partner with Marketspace Vendor Events at their pop-up shop in Summit, NJ (my home!) on May 19th. To check out my signs for yourself, find me there in person, visit my Etsy shop, or follow me on social media. Keep in mind I can customize anything!

Joy B - Be The Difference Clothing

My name is Joy. I own a small business called Be The Difference, established in August of 2014. Most, if not all, designs or sayings are created to inspire and encourage the wearer and those who see the designs. Some designs are inspired by personal experiences and others from situations I see or hear. I distinctly remember the moment I decided to design t-shirts. I was driving home from an event when for the first time in my life I saw a person “stuck”. They were literally standing on the corner bent backwards just swaying a little. After I drove by it just hit me! I remember thinking, "What am I doing? I am no different than the next person who just says to themselves 'Wow, so sad'".  I felt could no longer stomach being the passerby. It took guts to overcome the fear of being rejected to create the 'Addiction Kills The Family' t-shirt. My mission lies in comfort and support. Be the Difference offers a range of custom pieces from deep discussion topics to light-hearted playful themes.  Our designs appeal to any age, race or understanding.

My favorite items are the custom inspirational socks. Twelve pairs are designed and broken down into 12 colors so that only one person in the world owns that #btdllc pair of socks. This model ensures a unique product and keeps the creative juices flowing.  My second favorite is the custom onesie. Each onesie delivers a message when it is needed the most. We are creatures of touch, see and hear, so the more we absorb positivity, the more we have a chance at happiness and love. I believe the best time to start is infancy.

With Be the Difference, the sky is the limit. The plan is to keep pushing, keep inspiring, and keep trying to be the difference in this thing called life! Partnering with Marketspace Vendor Events will help us reach an audience we haven’t seen or spoken to. We will encourage each other to not give up or lose hope. If we all do our part, this world will be a better place.

Lisa Malchow - Lisa Malchow Studios

Hi, my name is Lisa. After living on the island of Grenada for the last 3 years, I have just relocated to New Jersey.  It was on this gorgeous island that I found my way back to my art; from painting murals at 4-Star Hotels, teaching crazy art classes to the local children, and participating in many of the seasonal arts & craft events.  I’m now working out of my studio at home, adjusting to the lovely New Jersey weather and getting my art ‘out there!’

I started doing Pet Portraiture because I saw that people are CRAZY for their pets, knowing this first hand, of course!  I started painting the pets in the traditional way for awhile, but found that boring. Then I rediscovered my art school background, with YEARS of Art History, I decided to paint the pets as famous portraits.  Yes… this has certainly been done before… but, I GOT IT!  My challenge is to paint the portrait, matching colors and brush strokes of the original to a ’T', and placing the pet as the subject matter.  These are so fun to do that I chuckle to myself the whole time I’m painting.  The 2nd brilliant idea I came up with is painting the pet in a realistic black & white version on canvas fabric and creating a ‘slip-cover’.  I use fabric paint, which is wonderful as it doesn’t smudge and you can hand-wash it if it does get dingy.  They are personalized with the pet’s name, and they make a fabulous gift for someone else who is crazy for their pets, or it does make a sweet ‘memorial pillow’ if the pet has ‘passed’.

This is my first endeavor with Marketspace Vendor Events, and I think Christmastime is the perfect beginning of our hopefully long relationship.  So come see me on Sat. Dec. 2nd and let’s plan your custom-painted project which you will cherish forever!

Jillian Merolle - Little Lady Big Designs

Hello everyone, I am Jillian of Little Lady Big Designs, where I specialize in the design of custom invitations and personalized gifts. This name is the perfect fit for my business since I stand just under five feet tall and have always had a love for creating impactful designs. I currently live in Cranford, New Jersey with my husband and our cockapoo, Lucy. In no particular order, my favorite things are spending time with my family, traveling around the world, being creative, enjoying good food and wine, and last but not least coffee, lots of it! During the week, I am a full time graphic designer in the fashion industry. Throughout my career I have worked alongside top brands, which has helped me to perfect the art of telling a cohesive message through design. From a young age I always had an eye for the little details and a love for all things paper. Little Lady Big Designs started out as a hobby, but turned into something that I am so passionate about.

I am happy to help you create invitations and stationery items that reflect your unique style and help set the tone for your entire event.  We specialize in weddings, birthdays, bridal and baby showers, religious celebrations, and corporate events. We also offer personalized holiday cards and birth announcements. I am happy to give you a personalized approach to design from start to finish, including all the little details in between. Nothing makes me happier than seeing my client's vision become a reality on paper.

I'm so excited to share my work with the local community at The Marketspace at Westfield on Saturday, December 2nd and Sunday, December 10th! Each day we will be raffling off a gift basket that you can enter by simply signing up for our mailing list. We will be offering pre-designed items for purchase such as ornaments, mugs, stemless wine glasses, and wall prints. There will also be customization options available for most products sold. Examples of my custom-made stationery will be on display at the booth. Please stop by to say hello, we can’t wait to meet you!

Mike Bender - State Plate Signs

Hello all, I’m State Plate Signs.  Actually, I’m Michael Bender, but it seems that more people know me by my license plate craft business than my name.  Everyone says “I’ve seen your stuff”, so it must be true.  I am a relative newby in the craft world, starting in 2015 making clocks from vinyl records and bike cranks.  License plate signs seemed to be what people liked more, so I concentrated on this.  I’ve since expanded to other crafts made from license plates, such as key chains, stars, boxes, birdhouses, necklaces, and cutouts of the shape of the great state of New Jersey.  I currently sell my crafts in eight stores in three states, and can be found most weekends working craft fairs or similar events.  The question I’m asked most, is where do I get my license plates from.  That’s easy.  All I need is a parking lot, screwdriver, and darkness.  Just kidding.  Maybe.

All of my products are made from used license plates.  The biggest draw to my table is my extensive collection of unique key chains.  There is something unique about each and every one.  The license plate signs are the most customizable item I sell. Each sign is as unique as the buyer.  I can make any sign with any words you’d like, so you’re in control of the end product.

Marketspace Vendors is making it possible for a whole other audience to experience the uniqueness of State Plate Signs.  I’m hoping to be a regular vendor with Marketspace Vendor Events, which will help grow my audience even farther than I’ve been able to do on my own.

*Editor’s note: Michael is becoming a regular on our Crafts and Drafts lineup.  We first met him at our River Horse Brewing Company event in Ewing, New Jersey on October 29, 2017 and will be welcoming him back on November 12, 2017 at Lone Eagle Brewing in Flemington, New Jersey.  He is a pleasure to work with and his work is even more impressive in person!

Cassie Parker - CassandieCrafts

Welcome! My name is Cassie Parker, I am the muscles and brains behind CassandieCrafts! We are a new handmade jewelry shop that has an eye for unique accessories. All of our merchandise has had a past life; they were once stored in a pretty box, covered in dust, or in your grandparents’ basement, patiently waiting to be nestled up next to your holiday meal. If you haven't got a clue where I am going with this... we're making wearable, vintage flatware accessories: actual silverware shaped into unique designs. You'll never look at spoons the same way again!

We all know how much a stay-at-home mom can be inspired through Pinterest; anything seems possible when you "double-tap" to save a future craft!  My story begins on a day back in September, where I found stray pieces of tarnished silverware in my grandmothers’ china cabinet. My brain started racing and I knew I couldn't let them sit, I had to wash them up to shine! The details were beautiful, the strength of silver plated pieces is just remarkable… These little pieces of history were made to survive decades! I just had to recreate, repurpose, and bring these guys back to life. I was on a mission: flattening spoons on my cast iron skillet and carving into their silver-plated metal, all while juggling my two kids! My vision successfully came to life, a "Pinterest-win" if you will. My first bangle style will always be my favorite. I created the "sea tail" bangle, which will make a beautifully inspired gift for any Jersey native. Here in New Jersey, we're all mermaids washed ashore, and these cuff style bracelets emulate our coastal niche. They come in a variety of sizes and strengths to be adjusted perfectly on any wrist. Through custom orders, I have created whale, dolphin, and mermaid tails showcasing anyone's specific love of the sea. This fun little activity found via Pinterest has sparked some serious sale inquiries and, here I am today showcasing new designs with my medium being variety of forgotten flatware. The bracelets sold quickly to friends and family, then I flattened a fork... and wait until you see what I've done with them!

I am over the moon excited to have found Marketspace Vendors. It's even more exciting to debut with them locally this November. It really is a blessing to have found the opportunity to be a part of a group that encourages networking with other unique artists. My drive is channeled towards everyone's appreciation for eccentric style, especially the locals! Shaping flatware is not an uncommon craft, but what is uncommon, is the shapes and expressions able to image and create. Come find me at the CassandieCrafts table, and discover my way of giving antique silverware a whole new life.
